Weird Cookies January 4, 2010

We got some weird cookies at the store today. They are Grandessa Oblaten-Lebkuchen by Bahlsen. They consist of three layers. The bottom layer is a thin, communion-wafer like substance, followed by a cake-cookie layer. The cake-cookie tastes of anise or black licorice. This is all topped by a layer of thin chocolate, like the chocolate on the outside of a Ho-Ho, only without the chemically taste. They are very strange. Yummy, but strange.

  1. They’re traditional German Christmas cookies and they come in lots of different varieties. The thing they all have in common (the thing that makes them all lebkuchen) is the spiced gingerbread. Yum!
